Song of the decade

Absolute radio and Spotify wants us to vote for the song of the decade and I started to think about all the music thats been released and heard trough the last ten years. It should be forbidden to let someone choose one single song to represent a whole decade. So here is my top 5 songs of the Noughties. All this five songs has something special in them and will be songs I will remember for the rest of my life. They also have some kind of story that I can relate to.

5. Kooks - She Moves in Her Own Way (2006)

This song is so much summer 2006 for me. I had just started my new job and a colleague that had been living in UK earlier recommended me that I should listen to Virgin radio (renamed to Absolute radio in 2008) because of the fine choice of music they have. And here I am over three years later and I still listen to them. And when I started listen to Virgin this song was played a lot while swedish radio stations and top lists did have entries like Basshunter, Lordy, Justin Timberlake and so on and I realized I finally had found my radio station.

4. Arctic Monkeys - I Bet you Look Good on the Dancefloor (2006)

This one is the other song that played a lot at Virgin radio during summer 2006 and I did listen a lot to them. It's hard to pick one track but the energy in the intro  and the rest of the song makes it the choice from Arctic Monkeys.

3. Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (2004)

This was the song that changed my view of the music being released in the noughties. Up until I heard this I had lost faith in the music. The great 90s ended in disaster with Britney Spears and all the 100 copy cats of her sound. This continued into the noughties and it started in the same bad way (with exceptions offcourse but just over all). Then I heard this song and realized that there was finally a change coming!

2. The Last Shadow Puppets - Standing Next to Me (2008)

I can't describe it. A master piece that I did play on repeat over and over again last year. And it has a brilliant music video as well. Brings back the feeling of the sixties. So a song made by two guys in the age of early twenties that sounds like the sixties but 40 years later almost made it to number one on my list.

1. Kent - Mannen i den vita hatten (2005)

So here is number one. A swedish song from one of the most loved (and hated) bands in Sweden. The album which this song ends was on repeat for a month or two. Addictive music and I couldnt stop listen to it. And since I'm a big Kent fan I can't leave them out from a top 5 list and the ending tune of that album has to be the choice since it's one of the best songs ever made according to me and it's my choice for the song of the decade. And reading the comments at Youtube it's amazing to see that it's a favorite even for people that doesn't know a single word swedish.
